O Strengthening Darkness, we are the terminal buds on the tree of life. Waiting, trusting, remaining hopeful—may these valued movements of the heart increase in us. Light-filled days will come again into our lives. As the radiant warmth of springtime unfurls the hidden green in buds whose arms wrapped tightly around themselves, so will surprises of future light awaken and unfurl what has seemed forever buried in our winter’s repose.
~ Joyce Rupp
Winter is a time of repose, rest, and renewal. It is a time where there is more darkness than light and barren trees await the promise of spring. We might think of winter as a liminal space, a time between seasons when the call is to go inward, to nourish ourselves and dream our desires.
When we cooperate with winter and allow the season to inform our lives by slowing down and turning inward, we prepare ourselves well for the new life that comes in spring. This is not always easy to do in a world of artificial lights and year-round activities, and always the internet at our disposal! To walk in Beauty through winter requires a willingness to surrender to the silence in nature and the silence within ourselves.
In this workshop we will listen to Spirit through our bodies by engaging in some simple, restorative postures, culminating in a laying down centering prayer meditation. Journal prompts and expressive art will also be encouraged to promote inward inquiry.
Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat, several pillows, and a belt or strap. Also have on hand a journal, pen, blank paper, and coloured pencils.
Registration fee options: $40, $30, $20, $10, or full scholarship with no fee - When registering, please select the fee option most appropriate to your means.
Zoom link will be emailed to registered participants prior to event.
